Hello! Thanks for checking in!

Welcome to my updated web page! I have added some pictures to the Picture Album. You can see pictures of the beautiful quilt that my students gave me at the end of June. I also included a picture of me with my dog and a picture of my guinea pig.

Thank you for checking in. I love working on and changing my web page to give it a fresh and colorful look. I hope you enjoy your visit. Remember to check out the web links as all the sites are educational and interesting.

I also hope you like the hippo and the school bus because I cannot figure out how to delete them so I guess they are here to stay for now.

My web page is rather long so please scroll until the end so you can see all the information.

About Me

My name is Susan Krevat.  I have been teaching for nine years so I still consider myself a new, older teacher.  I got my M.Ed. in Elementary Education from  Salem State.  I still take at least one course a year so I can continue to learn better ways to teach.

I love my job.  I enjoy all the students and the variety of every day.  I also appreciate how teaching has given me an opportunity to become creative, versatile and accepting of change.  Every day is a new adventure, and I can never predict how the day will go - I will never get bored being a teacher.

In my at-home life, I have a husband, Matthew, who is a lawyer; three teenaged children - Bethany, 19; Derek, 17; and Andrew, 15.  I am also so lucky to have a twelve year old  Brittany spaniel that we adopted three years ago.  It is so terrific to come home to the unconditional love of a dog.  I also have an adorable guinea pig, Good Girl, who I try to bring to school once a week.

In my free time, I clean, do laundry, cook, taxi my children and take care of everyone.  For fun, I do the crossword puzzle, read and go for walks with my dog.  My life is very busy and hectic, but I am so fortunate to have had all the opportunities I have been given.

I love to get e-mail, so please write to me with any questions or comments.

Math News

Please remember that it is still very important to practice all math facts.  The more you practice, the better you will remember them.  Memorizing your facts will help you for your whole life.

Reading News

Every day we read quite a bit.  We read in our reading books, and we have book clubs - just like on Oprah.  We also have centers that focus on reading and writing.

Make sure to read every day.  This is the best way to learn and keep your skills sharp for school.

WritingPoet's Cornerjournal

Language Arts

We do quite a bit of writing.  We just wrote two paragraph stories about how to be a good friend and our talents.  We love to share our stories with our classmates on the rug.

Feel free to send me an e-mail any time.  I will write back as quickly as I can.  Plus I love to hear from you!

Science News

We just finished a chapter on the water cycle.  Here is one of my favorite songs (sung to the tune of "Oh My Darling):

Condensation, evaporation, precipitation on my mind;
they are part of the water cycle,
and they happen all the time.

Next we will be studying the weather.

Social Studies News

We are so lucky to live close to so many historical places.  If you have a chance to visit Boston, you will see a lot of history.

Important Reminder

Study and memorize your math facts.  You need to practice every day, even at home and on the weekends, until you know them inside out.  This will be time well spent for the rest of your school years.  If you still are rusty at subtraction, practice those facts, also.  You'll be glad you did.

You can use www.aaamath.com or make flashcards or study with a parent or friend.  If you need any help, see me so we can get you set up with a system that works for you.
