I can't believe that it is already May. I have watched your children learn and grow so much since September! They came in as fourth graders and will be leaving middle-schoolers. This is a very bittersweet time for me. They have matured, developed so much self-confidence and become very engaged in learning, but it is now almost time to say goodbye :(
In May, we will be taking our field trip to the Freedom Trail and we will have our science, social studies and math MCAS. All of the dates are listed on the calendar page of the website.
Social Studies: We have finished the Constitution and beginnings of the wonderful United States. After our test next week, we will learn about the growth our new nation.
Science: We have just finished a mini unit on light and we will be spending some time on engineering. The students will be creating devices to filter water this month.
Spelling: The words change weekly and are assigned on Mondays. Tests are Fridays.
Math: We are in the middle of our unit on Geometry. After that, we'll move on to long-division.
Other Things: In guidance, we have been using a new district-wide program called "Second Step." Lately, we have been learning about peer pressure and managing conflicts.
